Instructions for adjusting your computer monitor resolution.

PRINT THESE INSTRUCTIONS AS A REFERENCE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE THE RESOLUTION.

QUICK REFERENCE: My Computer > Control Panel > Display > Settings > Screen area

Detailed Steps for Windows 95 and 98. The Windows XP process is similar:

1. Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop (or click on Start then Settings and then Control Panel and go to step 3).

2. Double-click the Control Panel icon.

3. Double-click the Display icon.

4. Click the Settings tab at the top.

5. Under the section Screen area, drag the slider to 800 X 600 (or higher if desired).

6. Click Apply.

7. You should see the following message:

"Windows will now resize your desktop. This could take a few seconds, during which your screen might flicker. If Windows does not reappear correctly, wait 15 seconds, and your original settings will be restored."
Click "OK".

What will happen now? Your screen will go blank for a few seconds and then the new resolution will appear with the following message: "You resized your desktop. Do you want to keep this setting?" Click "OK" if everything looks good or "NO" if it doesn't. If you computer cannot correctly support the setting you chose and everything appears messed up, WAIT, it will automatically restore your original setting.

If your computer does not allow setting the resolution at 800 X 600 (or higher), or it does not display properly, it is a limitation of your monitor, display adapter, or display driver. Seek professional help in resolving.
